The digital music service Spotify announced an alliance with payment gateways in Latin America so that users can support emerging artists in the context of the COVID-19 crisis.

The initiative, which is called Artist Fundraising Pick, gives artists the ability to raise funds through their profiles on Spotify. The function is similar to the one that already exists to highlight a piece of music in “Artist's Selection”.

With this tool, musicians can choose the destination of these resources: from using them to support themselves to donating them to a music aid organization.

Musicians from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay may include Mercado Pago and PayU links in their profiles to receive the support of their followers. Spotify clarified that all payments are made on third-party sites and therefore it does not receive any percentage of transactions.
